Celebrating the return to play and competitive games, we are inviting members to enter the upcoming BELVO RAINBOW CUP.
What is it?
A single-day touch rugby blitz on the final day of the Pro14 getting people active and playing rugby again after lockdown.
Six Rainbow Cup-inspired teams battle it out for the ultimate title of Belvo Rainbow Cup champions.
When is it?
19th June from 12.30pm-5pm at Old Belvedere.
Who can participate?
Any club members over 18 years of age.
How does it work?
There will be six teams inspired by the Pro14 Rainbow cup (Bulls, Lions, Sharks, Stormers, Zebre, Benetton). Each team will be made up of participants of different levels of experience. Players register as individuals and will be assigned to a team based on this.
Touch rugby…that’s the same as tag rugby, right?
Well, not quite. Touch rugby is played predominantly in the southern hemisphere but is gaining popularity in Ireland as a great alternative to contact rugby, and thanks to a new IRFU initiative, will be integrated into rugby clubs across the country.
It’s fast, skilled and luckily for you, Old Belvedere already has an established Touch Rugby team. Check out the rules in an introductory video here: http://belvotouchrugby.com/resources/ . Alternatively, come down on Monday nights at 7pm and get coached by one of the multiple international players playing for Old Belvedere Touch Rugby.
